Each week for the past 9 months I’ve shared an idea with the goal of inspiring you and others to ‘sell unique’ in your biz…
So far that’s added up to 37 Selling Unique Inspiration articles, each with a lesson or important question to help you better communicate YOUR unique value.
And as a new year approaches, I can honestly say:
This has been some of the most fulfilling work I’ve ever done
Sharing with YOU the ideas, principles, mindset shifts, tips, tactics, questions and insights I’ve encountered that can help you connect more deeply with the people who want what youhave.
Now, every time I work with a client on a Selling Unique messaging project, I’m constantly thinking:
“What have I learned here that I can share?”
In 2019 it’s my goal to help you stand apart from anyone else in your niche, so you can truly sell unique and have fun putting more ‘you’ into your work…
But since we’re entering the season of seasonal playlists, retrospective reviews of the year and uh, festive overindulgence…
(yes it’s started here, and yes it turns out Germany is as fond of glühwein as its reputation suggests)
…I thought I’d share a ‘Top 5’ of this year’s Selling Unique how-to highlights, in case you missed any.
So here’s 5 posts I wrote this year that people found useful (or just plain entertaining):
1 – Why Ryan Reynolds Just Emailed Me
In August, I got an email from Ryan Reynolds (yes, that Ryan Reynolds). Find out what he said, and a marketing lesson so powerful it crashed his company’s servers. Contains blatant celebrity trolling (pow!)
2 – What The Streets Are Really Paved With
Based on a great old joke – about emigrating to America, and hopes and dreams – that’s funny, a little dark, and truthful. This one’s about a universal truth: how you can inspire others with your work after life’s curtain is pulled back, and you see the world for what it really is rather than what you’re told it is…
3 – 25 Words Or Less (It Worked For Iggy)
The messaging inspiration you can take from the raw urgency of punk rock, and how “street-walking cheetah with a heart full of napalm” Iggy Pop admitted he owes a surprising debt to a clean-cut 1950s kids’ TV presenter. Also check out the simple 25-word exercise you can use to give your core marketing message more clarity and focus…
4 – That Time 6 Of Us Lifted An Entire Pub
“It was 6pm and my hands were bleeding. I was doubled over, panting for breath. Every muscle in my arms and back screamed at me… but by the time I’d finished lifting an entire pub onto a truck, I no longer cared about the money.” What I learned from the hardest day’s work I’ve (still) ever done…
These 6 marketers and writers all have distinctly different email styles, with something we can take from each. I open everything I get from these folks, because they’re all masters at communicating their unique voice. Find out how they do it, so you can write emails that get read, not just opened…
Ok, that almost does it for 2018, but first, I need to get something off my chest:
If you’re new to my work then hello, welcome and THANK YOU!
(You’ve likely not seen any of the 5 posts above before, so pick one that looks intriguing and dive in…
I’d love to hear what you think, so hit up the comments to let me know.)
And if you’ve been with me a lil longer – like even as far back as 2012 when I started this blog off with regular ‘Rock & Roll Copywriting’ tips – then I just want to say a massive, sincere, sentimental (it’s the glühwein)…
…THANK YOU!
Seriously, thanks a million for your interest, your attention and your feedback.
I’m already looking forward to sharing fresh insights, case studies, battle scars and more celebrity-trolling comedy posts with you in 2019…
I’ll be taking a couple weeks’ break for the holidays but will be back here in early Jan (when the site will have an all-new look!)
